What We Do
Beavers are aged 6 to 8 and we meet each Monday from 5.45 to 6.45 at St. Michael's School in Dalston.
Beavers do lots of crafts, games and badges and our aim is to have fun and friendship.
"Boomer" and "Casper" (Jo and Debs) lead the Beaver colony in Dalston and often have help from older members (e.g. Exlorer Scouts).
Uniform is worn at most meetings – sweater, neckerchief and dark trousers/ dark plain
tracksuit bottoms. For warm weather and active games, we recommend the turquoise polo
shirt if Beavers wish to remove the sweater. Uniform can be obtained from the National
Schoolwear shop in Nelson St.
After a few weeks an Investiture Ceremony will be held when new members make their
Promise and are formally welcomed into the Colony. Parents are invited to attend.
Once a year we have a night away staying in a camping centre at Ratlingate near Carlisle. We do outdoor cooking, have a camp fire and other exciting Beaver activities.
Subs are £20 a term (just over a third of which goes to pay our annual capitation fee to Scout
HQ in London) and should be paid within the first 2 weeks of the start of a new term.
If you are a tax payer, please fill in and return the Gift Aid form to help boost our funds.
All new members to the Group should bring the completed form to the first meeting.
Any questions or concerns – please do not hesitate to get in touch.
